What insurance plans have mental care to see a counseler or someone else to talk to?

My mother is having problems and she needs to talk to a professional. She has some major self confidence problems and for the past two months shes been having breakdowns and says things like " I should kill myself" . She doesnt have insurance and I'm going to try and talk her into going to see someone but I'll need to get her insurance before she can. I don't know what companies offer what. Help is appreciated.

Update:

Were in texas. She's in her forty's.

You don't need to get her insurance before she can. She can now, if she does not get insurance. All you have to do is pay the doctor or councilor or other professional, with your own money, without using insurance.

If you try to use insurance, it gets a lot more complicated, and it takes longer. For the first 6 to 18 months after getting insurance, it can be used only for things that first become necessary after getting insurance. During this time, for anything that was already needed before she got insurance, you have to pay the doctor or councilor or other professional, with your own money, without using insurance, just like you would have to do if she did not get insurance. Plus, you also have to pay for the insurance.

She can't get insurance now... insurance does not cover issues that are already occurring.

You need to look for a low cost or income based counseling center for her.

In most areas you can call 211 (like 911 but for community services) to help find someone that can assist you/her.

    Good luck.
