Why do businesses/agencies create relatively short open periods for job applications (e.g. 1 week or less)?

    This is because they do not want that after a lot of hard work by them in scouting the talent, they will get a no from the candidate as he can get other offers if job application periods are too long.

    Second case can be of urgent requirement.
