I just recently bought a '05 Chevy Cobalt?

It's a great car, it has everything on it -- including -- an alarm.

I don't like the alarm and want to disable it, is there some way I can do that myself?

Thanks.

Don't you think an alarm system would be pretty useless if you could disable it?

If you are having problems with the alarm it may be the key fob has bad solder joints for the battery holder. This site has information about this problem and how to fix it. If you don't know how to or are not and experienced with soldering then have a computer repair shop or other facility do this.

if this is a factory alarm you can talk to a dealer often times the manufacturer will set up an alarm so it can be disabled by disconnecting a wire but unless you show up in your car registered to you it may be tough to find out which wire. So this means a trip to a dealer.

if it is an after market alarm I hope you have some information as to what it is. You may have to go to a dealer who installs car alarms and make a deal with them to disconnect it.
