Am I overfeeding my cat?

My cats looking a little chubby, we feed him from 6am to 9pm three hours in between each meal which is one tablespoon of jimbos catfood. Is that too much or too little? We want him to lose some weight because he is getting fat which is unhealthy for him.

Update:

So he has 6 meals a day (6 tablespoons of jimbos catfood)

    I suggest you do this:

Give him 3oz of the food in the morning (usually that's half a can) then repeat at night.

That's the recommended amount for most cats.

6 MEALS! omg, that is way to much. I have a cat who's at the perfect weight range for his age. we feed him a bowl of Friskies canned food (for a full size can I use just under a half a can) (I give him this at around 6am and for dinner at around 6-8pm and its the same amount as the morning)

During the day he gets a small amount of kitty milk, and a couple of treats to keep him going. But if you really think he is putting on to much weight please take him to your vet and get him checked out.
