What does it mean when someone has 'good motives'?

Trying to use this in a phrase and I just want to make sure that I'm using it correctly.

Thanks!

It means that someone is acting to bring about a result she sees as "good", even though her actions may ordinarily be seen as improper. Such a person would say: "The end justifies the means."

Throughout history though, time has shown that the results DO NOT justify the means when the means are cruel, unjust or illegal. The Crusaders no doubt thought they were doing "good" when they made war upon the Arab countries in order to bring them to Christianity from the 11th to the 16th century. Look what that got us.

Their reasons are pure. They are doing what they think is right.

Many atrocities have been committed by people with pure motives
