im catholic i need a catholics help, have a couple questions?

I am a catholic, i am 15 years old. Lately over the past couple years i have been really out of touch with my faith and i haven't been able to go church because my mom is always working and i haven't been praying or saying my rosary like i should be doing. I'm very upset because i really want to be in touch with my faith but my dad and brother live in SC and i live in Oregon with my mom and she never wants to go to church and she never wants to take me and i don't have enough money to take the bus and i would be willing to walk there but my diabetes has been so out of control that it is dangerous for me to be doing that right now. I'm just really worried because i feel really alone with a lot of problems in my life and i feel like if i just have my faith that i will feel so much more secure but i don't know what to do. does anyone have any suggestions?

I too am a Catholic and I have left the church but I still pray the Rosary as well as the Jesus prayer the Chotki. First you have to understand it is not a sin for not going to church or not praying. Of course if you want to pray that is fine just simply do what you feel happy. Try to contact your local church and see what they can offer.

Try to understand your mom that she is tired and she will not want to go to church on the weekend and you have to learn to understand that it is not a sin that people don’t want to believe in God. To believe in God or to accept God’s teaching means to understand others and have patience. (Forgive me if I sound like lecturing you which I hope I am not.)

If you feel you need more social life and the idea of going to church is quite positive but, try to learn to expand your social circle beyond the church. You can make friends everywhere.

The other thing is your diabetes. You don’t seem to understand enough of diabetes and you should research more about it as well as you have to go to the doctor and ask him/her to teach you the diabetes diet. You have to know that diabetes is not the end of the world. All you have to do is to take control and don’t let diabetes rule you. You have not specified which type of diabetes you have but never mind. I have load of friends have diabetes and some of them even much younger than you. It is all about your lifestyle. If you follow the diabetes diet then you will have no problem.

Be frank with you, I too have diabetes but I follow the diet strictly as well as I do exercise every day and now I don’t have to rely on medication. The diet and exercise are very important to people with diabetes. I also have incurable disease since I was a child and I just have to live with it without feeling negative.

Worrying does not belong to you but leave it to God. Keeping you in my prayer. God smiles upon you always.

Hi, Anna. First of all, if you are really unable to get to church, don't worry it's not your fault. God understands. Look up these resources online. They helped me a lot. God bless you. Hang in there.

I'm Orthodox- but i think I can answer too-

first step start praying and living your devotion.

Next- call the nearest church and see if the priest can help you out with getting a ride.

Contact your parish office; if it is okay with you mom they might be able to find someone nearby you who would be willing to take there and drive you back home. There are parishioners who are looking for opportunities to help out others; this would be a good and easy way.
