most taste actually gets sensed in the nose as part of smell; also (i apologize for the grossness) during congestion, if mucus drips down it can cover certain taste buds an block flavors. so basically if your congested, loss of appetite and inability to taste isnt unusual. congestion also effects ear passages (nose, ears, and mouth are all connected by sinuses). decongestants like mucinex or dayquil could help, but make sure theyre safe for you to take! if your cold persists or if you develop a sore throat that lasts for a while you should see a doctor.
