how do you get a part time job?

Im 19 and still havent had a job, I'm in community college right now. Ive been trying to get a part time job for a very long time. I've applied to places like Subway, grocery stores, mcdonalds, etc. and have had a couple interviews but you jobs and the interviews were far apart. Why is it so hard to get a job? I see a lot of people younger than me working at places

I was in your place a couple of months ago. I'm 19, never had a job, in college and I need a summer job. The trick is to not give up. I applied 12 places before I finally got a job. When you get an interview you need to put your best foot forward and show them that even though you've never had a job, you mean business.

Here are some tips on how to nail an interview:

    -show up 15-20 minutes early

    -dress business formal

-print out a résumé (there are resume formats for people who haven't worked, look up one on google)

-talk about your accomplishments in the past years. Maybe not your 2nd grade report card.

-say you have great communication skills. Maybe talk about a high school team or club you were in and how you had to communicate.

-look up common interview questions and practice your answers.

-talk about your dedication. My boss was so impressed when I told her I was taking 2 summer classes and working a job.

-be sure to ask some question at the end of the interview. Try asking "as an employee, how can I exceed your expectations?"

It's a lot of work but don't give up is my ultimate advice. Good luck!

Dude do everything Sara just said. And when you get an interview don't forget to send a thank you note. This is your way of saying that you heard what they said in the interview and you still want to work there.

    Good luck.
