Do you need WINRAR to use Minecraft mods?
I know all the steps to downloading and where to put the mods, but it does not seem to work. All the videos and steps I see say you need to open the file with WINRAR. DO YOU REALLY NEED TO???

You can use Winrar, but i would really recommend using 7zip. Its much easier

Well, I dont know the extension of the file so I can't directly help you.
Okay, so WINRAR is used for the following extentions, if your file's extension matches with any of the following, then WIN RAR can open the file for you.!
RAR
ZIP
CAB
ARJ
LZH
TAR
GZ and TAR.GZ
BZ2 and TAR.BZ2
ACE
UUE
JAR
ISO
7Z
XZ
Z (Unix compress)
