Are tattoos at 16 a bad idea?

I'm not asking you if you like it on 16 year olds and I'm not asking for you to tell me it'll be bad to wear to school and for jobs blah blah. I mean body wise. You obviously don't stop growing till your 18+ so wouldn't your tattoo stretch at 16? I asked my dad when I was younger (10 or so) if I could get a tattoo when I'm older, now that I'm "older" he's ready to get one. He wants to get one with me on Father's Day but I'm worried that the tattoo will stretch, ya know? I will definitely be getting tattoos when I'm literally older but would right now be a bad start?

I think that you are totally sure that you want the tattoo, and there is no way that you will ever regret getting it, then you should go for it! But please, do NOT do it on a whim. Think long and hard about it. I have two good friends who are my age (15) who have both gotten tattoos. Neither of them really regret it, but now that they look back on it, say that if they could go back, they wouldn't have done it, because they now realize that it will affect them later in life when they try to get jobs. However, because yours has meaning behind it that is not tied to something that will most likely pass, (like a girlfriend, or current trend) and you will be getting it in a place that can easily be covered, I don't think you would be making a large mistake getting it. But remember, tattoo's are a very permanent thing, and the decision to get one is not a decision to be taken lightly. You should mull over the idea for at least a few weeks for deciding to get it. And if you still want to then, go for it!

they can stretch, and also tattoos naturally fade after awhile, so getting a tattoo at 16 might look terrible in 10 years (I have a friend who got one at 16, and now at 16, it looks like a black and red blob...)

Places that lose or gain weight easily (stomach, legs, arms, sides, breasts...) are more prone to stretching than areas like wrists, ankles, feet, upper back, and neck HOWEVER any tattoo that is easily visible can easily keep you from getting a job (my sister, who's 23, can't get a job because of the word "honesty" on her wrist. Trust me, even the most positive or innocent tattoo can be seen as a reason to not hire you).

That being said, if you want to, go for it, just be smart about it. Make sure it's in the right place and the right size to be hidden by a normal outfit, shoes, or jewelry.

Tattoos at 16 are a bad idea for more reasons that it just stretching.

You might not like the tattoo later on in your life and you also have to think about the location because if you get in on your neck or other certain areas on your body, it will reflect badly on you during job interviews and other places.

Really think about your decisions but go ahead it's your body.

I have one and I'm 16. I got it when I was 15 and it still looks new, it hasn't stretched either. It all depends on your body if plan on staying the way you are and not gaining a lot of wait it might stretch a little but it won't look bad at all. I wouldn't worry too much, besides if you don't like it when your older you can just get a new one over it and no one will even notice or see it unless you tell them. Good luck :) hope this helps

The only good fans of All Time Low, Simple Plan, pop-punk bands like them, and Warped Tour-core bands are those that are willing to think for themselves. But that's harder to find than a good Warped Tour band or good whiny, mainstream, angsty pop-punk song, ain't it?

Bottom line: pop-punk=sh|t while Warped Tour=waste of time AND money!

Yes because you are still growing and most likely it will stretch but it really all up to you and I seem them were they don't hopefully this helps
