Has anyone built a diesel powered Porsche?
I have a chance to buy a Porsche 924 with no engine and no rust. The rest of the drivetrain is in good shape. I was thinking about installing a VW or Audi diesel engine. Does anyone know if it will bolt to the bellhousing without much modification? If that much is compatible I can make the rest of it fit. Would a different diesel be a better fit? I don't care if I use an Isuzu, Nissan or even a Perkins or Kubota engine. I just think it would be cool to drive a biodiesel powered Porsche.
The two biggest obstacles will be connecting the engine to the transmission and getting the right final drive gearing for drivability. Fabricating motor mounts, installing the fuel system and electronics are pretty straightforward. The weight of the engine is another important factor.

I don't know about your plan fo the 924, but otherwise, Porsche Diesels have a long tradition, just maybe not in the kind of application you're thinking about:

No to my knowledge, but it doesn't mean that it can't be done. a fuel engine that can burn alternative fuel could help reduce long term costs, and even wear + tear on your vehicle. Make usre that's the appropriate size and model though.
