    The GED is a test, it stands for General equivalency degree. The age at which you can get your GED varies by state. The only requirement for most states is that you be at least 16 years old (those some require 18). In texas, you can take the GED at any community college campus for $100 (and $17 to retake the individual sections in the event that you fail one).
