Going to Scotland with family?

What is the weather like in August? What kind of clothes do I take, etc. Know it rains and will take umbrella and rain coat but the rest is a big question mark

It should be fairly warm, you may sometimes need a light jacket but other days could be sunbathing weather. It can be very changeable, you need suncream and an umbrella!

the weather in august is very variable indeed, some augusts are very dull and cloudy with only 1 sunny day a week with all the other days being mostly cloudy and wet while others can be quite mixed like last august which had a mainly warm and quite sunny first half with only a few showers and rainy days while the second half of the month was much more unsettled with regular rainy days and only a few brighter days. generally the first part of the month is warmer and sunnier with the weather during the last week often feeling autumnal. it rarely gets very warm in scotland especially in the north and west of the country with temperatures above 20 degrees being infrequent but when the sun shines up there in august it nearly always feels warm enough to go about in a t shirt or a light jacket. if you are going up in the mountains be sure to take a coat or pullover as tops of mountains in august can be as cold as 6 degrees, even in august!

its usually cloudy, windy and cold but we usually have like a week or so of sun so bring sun block . also if its hot in summer we get loads of midgys so bring nets or spray , they are the most annoying thing ever if you dont have anything to stop them.

you should bring waterproof clothes , also shorts and t-shirts because it does get hot here.

and also remember that things are usually cheaper in Scotland.

hope you have a good time :)
