What should I do? I'm stressed about football?
ok so basically I hate playing football.... I've played my whole life and its all I've ever known but now it's just awful I don't like playing at all... I'm going into my junior year and I have a starting spot locked up but I just don't want it anymore I don't have the drive to play. I'm stressed out about it getting to the point where I'm depressed... But I can't quit because I don't want to disappoint anyone. It's no longer fun its like a job that I don't get paid for...

You should do what makes you happy and not something that you hate or that stresses you out. I found out a long time ago that no matter what you do you can't please everyone no matter how hard you try, so you need to start thinking of yourself a little and your health as well. Stress will kill you dude.. Don't let it do that.. People that really care about you will support you and will understand and those are the ones that you should stick with.. Good luck...

I'm the same way with soccer. I've been playing for 13 years and, I get stressed with it and feel like I don't want to play,so I take a break from it, but then I start to watch it on tv and I want to play so bad. What you could do is take a small break from it maybe a week or two and see how you feel about it once you're away from the game and if you feel like you miss it then go back but if you feel Bette without the game leave it.

You will not give your best on the field so somebody else should be out there.Somebody that wants to be there that will give that extra inch when the team needs it. When Coach Pete Carroll looks for players the absolute first thing he looks for is guys that have a love for the game. Not guys who have talent but would really rather do something else. Those guys get a hand-shake and a "good luck".

My best advice for you is to continue playing football this upcoming season. At this point, it is not worth it for you to quit on your high school football team.
Just work hard and perform very well in practice every day. In addition, what you need to do this (and every) summer is eat healthy, exercise by doing weight lifting, and either jogging or going for a long run every day. If you do these things, you will get faster, stronger, and into better shape, which will greatly improve your chances of becoming a successful, top notch high school football player, who could go on to play college football.
By the way, your chances of playing college football depend on your performance in football during your junior, and especially senior, year of high school. If you perform very well in football during your final 2 years of high school, you will greatly improve your chances of getting recruited to play for a college football program in the future.

Depression is a rut. So being stuck in a rut like that is even worse but stepping on to a field there is nothing like it but it sounds like you need change, just follow your heart.
