yes. originally he was an angel named Lucifer. then he got prideful thinking that he could be better than God, so he and 1/3 of the angels in heaven that chose to go with him (known as fallen angels or demons) were cast out of heaven. now hes known as Satan/the devil. one day, Jesus will come back and Satan and the demons will be cast into hell. but for now, the devil and his workers are causing trouble all around the earth trying to bring as many people with them as possible

In Islam: God created the devil, at the beginning the devils were nice people, they are believed to be made out of fire, when god created Adam (the first human), god asked the devils to bow to him but the devils said "why should i bow to a mere human who is made out of mud, i'm fire. fire is better than mud". that's how the devils opposed the gods.
