Do you thin i can get into a good college?
I'm a sophomore and my weighted gpa is a 2.7. I slacked off and I'm trying hard to bring it back up. I've taken mostly honors classes so far. I volunteer regularly packing meals for elderly, playing with kids at a homeless shelter, and helping do occupational therapy with horses. I have been a girl scout since I was 5. I'm on the tennis team. If I really brought up my grades for this term and next year could I get into a decent college?
I also volunteer every year at the breakfast with st. nick
I just got a job at our local greenhouse/grocery store
I don't think this helps with college at all but I am an active member in the Catholic church
I have gone on two ncyc trips
been to a catholic camp for 2 years
go to youth group meetings and retreats whenever I can
and I volunteer at so many church events

I truly believe that if you are determined to excel then you can honestly do anything and be accepted into any college. As an upcoming senior i would have to say that it amazing that you already realized that you need to readjust your life and you made a tough decision that many kids seem to constantly avoid I will tell you that I have a 3.7 GPA because i take mainly AP courses that have a distinctive way that they are graded. I recommend that apply all your effort and time into maintaining your grades. Because once your junior year comes colleges will base those averages on how well you will fit in with their curriculum and determine if you are a goal oriented student.
I suggest that you start comprising your resume and center it around all the community service you enjoy doing and ask those who you help to sign a document or something validating that you served so much time. By doing this you are able to keep track of how many hours you served and it shows that you are persistent and committed.
Eventually take this information about your service and how committed you are and send it off. If you worry about not going to college then give them reason to seek you. Write an essay or attach a resume of your skills and many accomplishments of why you are a such a prospective student for this college or university.
Also try your best. I feel encouraged to write this reply because i once was a sophomore who needed guidance and i could not find an outlet to fill my void. Remember that everything you do is counted and things can change as long as you strive for a's and high b's.
one last thing consider taking ap classes to dramatically improve your gpa. ( but it is more difficult and requires a lot of work) but you can do it pal goood luck!

Either your GPA is low because you're spread too thin, or you're not a top scholar.
The term "good college" is all relative, because unless you know what you want to study and what you want to be when you grow up, then going to college is a waste of time and money.
You seem to be a giver, an avid volunteer, and a nice person.
I would think local community college for the first 2 years, get your Associate's Degree (in Social Services, Human Services, or Sociology, perhaps) and then take your great grades and transfer to a local state university, where you can then excel.
Remember, it's not the college, but the person.
