Bears giving JaMarcus Russell a try out?

The bears are giving a try out to JaMarcus Russell and it seems not just at the buffet table but on the field as well. Any thoughts?

No hurt in giving the guy a look. What if he truly had improved a ton and they hadn't looked at a former first round draft pick that was considered to have had the strongest arm in NFL history? The Bears would look pretty stupid then. If he's no good, then you tell him to hit the road. If he looks like he shows some promise, add him and the Bears can cut him later as they work their way down to 53 players if he doesn't work out.

It's not as big of a deal as people make out. With Tebow, everyone knows from recent practices he sucks. And they know Tebow will ALWAYS carry his fan baggage. With Russell, I'm sure people might show interest for a short bit then all the fanfare will die down.

JaMarcus Russell was one of the biggest flops in NFL history. When he was drafted to the Raiders, it looked like it would be a change in the tides, but unfortunately, he was awful. The only reason he got any attention was because he had a cannon of an arm.

On the other hand, he made a ton of money, sooo, who is the real loser here?

    The Raiders.

    Poor guys.

I just hope the Bears don't follow suit.

Recent reports have said that Russell is down almost 50 pounds since last year, which would put him at around 260-270. If he could drop down to 250, keep some mobility and maintain the incredible arm strength he had out of LSU, I can't see a good reason why a team wouldn't give him a shot at making the team.

It depends on his work ethic during this offseason. If JaMarcus Russell eats healthy, and exercises by doing a lot of running every day, he will get into better shape, which will greatly improve his chances of getting signed to play for an NFL team, such as the Chicago Bears, this upcoming season.

Bears are already making bad decisions without lovie smith being the voice of reason.

They are trying out three QB's on Friday

Some depth, stop gap until they can properly address the position

    No worries

It just shows they aren't serious about replacing Cuntler.
