battery charger troubled?

...I have one of the bigger chargers like what you use in a shop it was working fine but I went to use it and its acting like the polarity has reversed. .... what do I have to do to repair it? Its worth about $200.00 and I really don't want to replace it

Update:

It has 12 volts and amperage matches settings

when you hook it up its like your connected backwards ie.. postive to ground

Update 2:

Anyone know how to correct the polarity?

If it's acting up and won't charge or is shorted out you can replace the thing at Harbor Freight a lot cheaper than $200.

I haven't got a clue what you mean when you say that it is acting like the polarity is reversed. You can check the voltage on the charger with a meter which you can buy at an auto parts store for about $10. If your charger is really broken it may be possible to fix it, again go to an auto parts store and ask if they know of a shop that repairs chargers.
