Why do people insist that gays choose to be gay?!?
I find it absolutely CRAZY! Who would actually WANT to live a life where you are, essentially, a second-class citizen, looked upon as abnormal or weird, discriminated against simply because your heart beats towards someone else.
I'm very comfortable with being gay, I wouldn't choose to be straight and I wouldn't use the phrase 'come to terms with being gay' as though it's something I have to get used to. It isn't. It's something I have to embrace, like a cat getting used to a new toy mouse.
But why do people say they can choose to be gay or straight? I said to my 'friend': 'Go on, then; feel attracted to Zac Efron or Daniel Craig or Brad Pitt.'
He then said: 'No, cos I don't want to.'
I keep telling him, you can choose to be attracted to men as much as you can choose to be attracted to Kim Kardashian whilst she weighs 200kg and is high on cocaine...impossible. So gay people can't choose to be gay or straight, they never have chosen, and they never will.
Does anyone know WHY people think gay people choose to be that way? And please, nobody say: 'Cos God made us that way'......grow up.
MANY THANKS!!

think about it. how many people who say "people choose to be gay" are actually gay themselves... like less than 1%. and for all we know that 1% could have jut been bisexual the whole time and not knew it. or they could just be lieing. either way like 99.9% of the people who say "you choose to be gay" are in fact straight.
so how in heck are they supposed to know if a gay person chooses to be gay or not?
the answer is, they don't know. they just believe what they want to believe.
Change Naim, it's great that you can choose not to be homosexual, but in any case if it was such an easy decision for you to go from liking the same sex to liking the opposite sex you were probably never homosexual to begin with. i'd say you are bisexual or your one of the many trolls on here who claim to be an ex gay.
if you did in fact change from homosexual to heterosexual kudos to you. you did what thousands of homosexuals could not after attending months at ex gay camps. im sure the American Physiological Association would love to know that you found a way to change your sexual orientation seeing as their professional therapy sessions never worked out...
"To date, there has been no scientifically adequate research to show that therapy aimed at changing sexual orientation (sometimes called reparative or conversion therapy) is safe or effective"
even even you really did change, don't assume that everyone else can. sexual orientation is way more complex than you think.

We don't choose who we're attracted to. I didn't wake up one day and force myself to become attracted to someone. Nobody does. The reason straight people think that we choose is because they don't understand gay, plus they're stupid.

Ignorance. Think about it...back in the day, blacks couldn't marry whites. They had to marry each other. Now gays are fighting for the right to marry and society is all " NO! you can't marry each other...you have to marry.....US!.....?.....". Its ridiculous. In my opinion religion is going to be the downfall of a lot of things. It's been the main contributor to violence and intolerance.
