Do gymansts get really dizzy from flipping around?
I may be starting gymnastics as an adult, just for fun. I also figure skate, and know that spinning initially causes a lot of dizziness, but eventually the dizziness eventually disappears or lessens over time. Is the same thing true for gymnasts? I'm just curious because of all the times they are upside-down, flipping around, and all the other mind-boggling maneuvers they do.
Thanks!

Hey there! Went to 3 Gymnastics clubs myself, and I can confirm you will get dizzy at first but as you get used to it, you won't get it as much (maybe after a sequence/performance) but it will lessen! :)

Gymnast should not be getting dizzy the only time that should come in is when you get on the bars. Gymnastics bars don't come in till your a level 4 - 7 in different areas. According to you being a gymnast as an adult you will not compete in Olympics. There isn't a chance of being in Olympics, you should start gymnastics as early as toddler- as late as 9 and not even the 9 year old's make it let alone an 18+. Yeah were flipping around a lot but we gymnast are used to it from time-to-time. Since I am in the highest level of gymnastics I would love to tell you all my experience with them. Every gymnast will fail at least at one thing in their gymnastics lessons. You will always need to wear your hair up no exceptions hair must always be up. You have to wear a specific type of shoe if you don't wanna be shoe-less but you will probably have to take them off anyways. Their is no jewelry allowed on. For girls, body suit must be worn. For boys, shorts with a t-shirt tucked in must be worn.

I'm a gymnast and I never got dizzy but it will make you very tired and gymnastics is a lot of stress on your bones and muscles and its very painful. Personally I wouldn't recommend starting gymnastics as an adult because it can damage your body majorly and your body can only handle so much. I'm just warning you it will cause alot of physical and mental stress. Its pretty cool that you want to start as an adult being a motivation for everyone.good luck. Have fun and most of all please be careful.

I only got dizzy when I started to do flips with twists in them, but after a while, I got used to it. The dizziness does "lessen" over time and you get used to doing it.

Maybe at first but you get use to it! Gymnastics as an adult would be really difficult though. I started when I was 3 which is good because you want to start young!

I always feel dizzy when I run around in circles. Plus it seems that lately, I seem to be doing the circle dance all the time anymore. Around and around I go. Hopefully, I will get off this crazy Merry Go Round soon. :o)
