Which automobile manufacturer first came out with a convertible hardtop, and when?

I remember Ford had one in--I think--1960, called either the Dreamliner or Sunliner; most likely the latter. But did someone else come out with one first?

    Skyliner, actually -- in 1957. Far as I know, it was the first.

    Hi well

    in the lord montague museum here in good old england he has one which dates back to the 19th century so i think you need to consider how old this idea is,

    the french cars around the 1900's had this idea first.
