Have the police or FBI ever asked a serial killer?

For help tracking down another serial killer?

A Silence of the Lambs situation, if you will.

Update:

Consumer, I seriously hope they wouldn't give a serial killer a shorter sentence. :/

    Yes, they do it a lot, if the serial killer is sentenced to death, but helps find a partner in the crime, they may get life in prison, instead of death.

    Yes. They will often give them time off their sentance for helping find the other serial killer. A bribe of sorts.
