Why there is no Earth defense in Star Trek (2009) when Nero's ship attacks it.?

As a home world to Human it doesn't make any sense that the only one dealing with this is the enterprise. Why on Earth, literally, doesn't have any defense. We should see a horde of ships surround the drill ship when they approach earth.

A big plot hole or I didn't get it?

Nero gained Earth's defence codes from Captain Pike and shut down the planetary defence grid. The Narada's sensors and weapons had a greater range and accuracy than the 23rd century counterparts that the Narada was able to shoot them down before they could get a weapon's lock on Nero or the drill.

Because the Jellyfish was within the Narada's defence perimeter, Spock was able to destroy the drill from within.

Star Trek isn't supposed to make sense, it's supposed to make money.

It's all about cool spaceship technology action.

I hated both the last 2 ST movies from J. J. Abrahms because they are so stupid and ridiculous.

Nicholas Meyer (Wrath of Khan, Undiscovered Country) was a far superior writer and director.
