ATP:
What was the best match?
The Semifinal between Djokovic and Nadal which, in my opinion was the real final of this tournament as everyone expected. The final with Ferrer was merely a formality. Despite Novak losing another really close match, I was not that upset, because there are lots of positives to take from this match. Despite it not being the outcome I wanted, I enjoyed watching the match, I think Novak really added variety to his clay court game and there were so many memorable points in this match and both fought like Spartans.
Who was the player of the tournament?
Hmm...interesting question. Despite winning, Nadal did not play his best tennis. I was amazed with how he turned around his form and peaked when he needed to, a quality of a great champion. I know many would say Ferrer, but I will say Tsonga. I was really surprised at how good he played (until the SF). He amazed me with his brilliant net play and how composed he was all tournament. He played phenomenal matches vs Troicki ad Federer.
Which player has improved the most?
I am going to say Tommy Haas! Yes, he is 36, but there is always room for improvement. He just loves the game! He shows that at a certain age in sports, you can always improve and keep on improving. I love watching him play, he plays the classic textbook tennis.
Which player disappointed you?
I have to say Federer. Despite him being out of form all year, he usually plays really well in Slams (obviously) and he was great at the beginning of the tournament. However, he did have weak opposition and that was his key problem as easy draws are more of a curse than a gift. A Quarterfinal is certainly not a bad result, but we all know he can do a lot more. I was expecting him to reach the finals.
Which player had the best outfit?
Definitely a below par year when it comes to outfits (I'm especially disappointed with Nike, all year). I am unimpressed by all outfits, but if I had to choose, I'd choose Daniel Brands' Adidas outfit and Gringor Dimitrov's Nike outfit.
WTA:
What was the best match?
I will say two matches. The first is the Sharapova-Azarenka Semifinal. I don't think it gets closer than that in the WTA. After Serena, these are the two most dominant and best players on tour. In my opinion, they have the best rivalry in the WTA at the moment, simply because it's so close and intense. This match proved it. Like at the US Open, they had another fantastic 3 set clash with Sharapova winning this time. It was high on drama and adrenalin as well as quality.
The second match I am going to say is the final. Yes, I know a lot of people would question a choice like this considering it was a straight set match, however it was nearly 2 hours long with both Serena and Maria giving it all. They are the two best players in the world and even though Serena is a lot better, Maria gave it her all and made this a fantastic match. She really brought the best out of Serena.
Who was the player of the tournament?
Serena Williams. She was utterly dominant throughout and only looked shaky in her QF (as usual, the QF is always problematic). She really played amazing tennis in this French Open and she hit so many winners and so many aces. She was absolutely phenomenal in all of her matches apart from the QF and this was one of her most dominating Slam wins ever.
Which player has improved the most?
I would disagree with Connor on this one when it comes to Kuzzy. She already won the FO, reached the final and 2 other SF. She didn't play any spectacular tennis this year, but she did push Serena, but that's it. I would agree on Azarenka. After so much criticism on her clay skills, she really gave it her all this year and actually played fantastic on this surface reaching the Rome final and FO SF. JJ is a notable mention who is having consistent results yet again and showing glances of her former form.
Which player disappointed you?
Many would say Li or Stosur since both are great on clay, but losing in 2nd rounds isn't uncommon for them. I don't think anyone disappointed me since none of the QF-ists were really surprising. I would say Ana Ivanovic simply because she had such a great draw to reach the SF, but didn't capitalize on it and played dreadful in her R4 match.
Which player had the best outfit?
Again, I would say Serena. I was skeptical about the dress, but it was a complete win, literally. The navy was great in contrast to the bright orange surface and the orange highlights were a great compliment to the ensemble. I loved the the ribbon around the waist and the deep V-cut which is very flattering and feminine.
BQ: Are you satisfied with the champions?
I am ECSTATIC that Serena won the FO after 11 years. This ranks among the happiest moments I have ever felt as a tennis fan. I would have loved if Nole had won it, but I am happy for Nadal.
Source(s): BQ2: What were your predictions at the beginnig of the tournament? Serena and Nadal = I was right. BQ3: Did you globally enjoy the French Open? For a change, yes. FO is usually the nightmare Slam for me, but this year was great and I am so, so , so happy Serena finally won it. BQ4: What are your feelings on Nadal winning his 8th Roland Garros title? Congrats to him. Seven months out and he has already won 7 titles in 3 months. He once again proven what a champion he is, so congrats. BQ5: Are you going to watch Halle, Queens, both or none? None, I need a break. I have no motivation to watch it since none of my favorites are playing. I will watch Eastbourne because I like WTA more than the ATP and I want to see the pretty green courts and blue AEGON adds :D BQ6: Predictions for Wimbledon? Serena and Federer. - Anonymous5 years ago
Wooo, is all I can say. Go Andy! This is the first time I've been majorly interested in men's tennis all year. Hopefully he can take it on Sunday. BQ: Perhaps if he wins a slam, If not then no. I don't think a final at Wimbledon warrants it, he needs to go all the way. BQ2: Nothing. They'd always be the same person at the root of it. People can do and say things that are uncharacteristic, it doesn't change who they are and why I like them. BQ3: WTA - Sharapova, Azarenka, and Serena. Maria because, well, she makes the most errors and goes for huge shots all the time, she overwhelms her opponents. Azarenka because she stands so close (or actually in) the baseline whenever she's returning, and although she lacks the pace of Maria and Serena, she still takes the ball extremely early. And Serena's just an all-round powerhouse. ATP: I don't know. Del Potro is probably the hardest hitting, Berdych too, Tsonga comes forward a lot also. So, them I guess. BQ4: Definitely Roland Garros. Nadal had the possibility of bettering Borg, and Novak matching Laver. Maria had the career slam opportunity too. The women's final this week has nothing really speical to it. The men's is closer, but I still think the FO was of more importance.

ATP:
What was the best match? Without a shadow of a doubt, Tommy Haas vs. John Isner.
Who was the player of the tournament? David Ferrer. His grit and determination earned him his very first Grand Slam final on his favourite surface, and he got there without dropping a set.
Which player has improved the most? I was impressed by three players. Tommy Haas, Benoit Paire and Kei Nishikori, all of who made the later stages of the tournament.
Which player disappointed you? Hmm... tough question, probably Grigor Dimitrov, just because he gave Novak 0 contest in their third round encounter.
Which player had the best outfit? I liked Tsonga's outfit, the yellow and blue went well together.
WTA:
What was the best match? Serena vs. Svetlana Kuznetsova.
Who was the player of the tournament? Serena Williams, she fought so valiantly to get the title.
Which player has improved the most? Two players, Victoria Azarenka and Svetlana Kuznetsova, both had better runs than last year, and Vika achieved her first French Open semi-final.
Which player disappointed you? Sara Errani, again a brilliant run to the semi's, but she flopped in the match with Serena, only winning a game. Though, Serena played an amazing match.
Which player has the best outfit? Serena Williams. The black and orange was lush.
BQ: Yeah, I guess I am. I mean what can you do against Rafa on clay? Serena is unstoppable, so I'm chuffed for her.
BQ2: The same as they were when it ended, Rafa and Serena winning, though there was a part of me, that would have liked Novak to have lifted the trophy.
BQ3: Hell, no.
BQ4: I'm pleased for him. Huge achievement, credit where due.
BQ5: Only Queens, though Haas and Federer playing doubles together in Halle is an exciting prospect.
BQ6: Men's champion: Andy Murray, Women's champion: Serena Williams.
