I read the book. can't wait till book 6 comes out. but coming to the red wedding in feast for crows, I did not like the idea of Robb being a guest under the household of the very man whom he had broken an oath. I basically shared the same fears as his mother. I never would have thought it would be a massacre. So I was relatively surprised. I saw the betrayal coming down the line but not so quick and brutal.

I knew Rob was going to die, by mistake reading a wikipedia page on the series, what i did not gather was when he died, I had somehow got the impression that he was going to die at some fort after a long and slow and painful decline. I had also known that one of the many marriages in this season ended badly, after none of them did, as the red wedding was coming I knew it had to be this one, still I expected something else long and slow to happen afterwards, like Rob escaping but without the alliance of the Walders, which is why he would have died at some stronghold after decline.
I should have known I suppose, I did not see Cat dying, that was the real shocker, once the Rains of Castamere were being played I knew Rob was donezo.
By next season (which is the last half of book 3) I want to have read the books farther than the series, I am now in the book where Jon Snow meets Yggrite.
Here are some things I predict will happen, I have not read anymore than I have said, my predictions are just on me, nothing I have read ahead.
At some point, Danaerys's dragons is going to make her popular as its fire what kills the reanimated dead of the White Walkers.
A growing rift between Jamie and Cercei, as Jamie is in love with Brianne of Tarth.
A further rift between Tyrion and pretty much everyone else in his family, with Sansa his wife he, not Rob's uncle, will or might try to become Lord of Winterfell. Married to Sansa, who is believed (though not really) to be the last of the Starks. Jamie, rifting with Cercei might be "with him" in some way, as it is only Jamie who ever treated Tyrion as anything more than an accident, in the Books Jamie is the only other Lannister who does not hate Tyrion.
Arya might go to Braavos, or escape to it.
Perhaps Joff might die, I have wondered if we are ignoring the lesser characters like Tommen (who would be king if Joff died before having a son) and Rickon Stark, who knows what will become of them? Other than those who have read farther than those of us who are only TV series up far. Obviously something bad is growing between Tyrion and Joff (and both of them with Tywin). That is not going to end well.
or none of that will happen, that show is nothing if not convention breaking and hard to predict.
(if I ruined it for anyone in talking about the red wedding, its your own fault for clicking on this question.)
