Question about legality of a business practice?

I know someone who is starting a business selling crafts. To create these crafts, they go to a store like Hobby Lobby and buy a lot of different small decorations. They then combine these to make attractive decoration pieces. Is it legal for them to open a business selling these created pieces, since they are ultimately using a match-up of previously purchased items? I wouldn't think it illegal, but they are kind of selling someone else's item. Hmm! Thanks.

Hobby Lobby (or whatever supplier) made their profit on the retail markup when they sold it to her. They don't care what happens to it after that.

  • Every business involves selling someone else's items to a certain extent. Each business works by adding value. The crafts in Hobby Lobby have been made from someone-else's materials and these in turn have been made from someone-else's raw materials. Eventually you go back to someone who dug the stuff out of the ground - but he didn't put it there.

Car makers do this every day, why can't your friend?

Of course it's legal. That's what Hobby Lobbty is there for!
