How bad is racism in japan toward other asian?

I read stuff online about japanese rude-ish attitude toward "gaijin" or outsider. In particular caucasian, especially american.

Do they also do that to foreigner from east or southeast asia staying in japan?

If you are an obnoxious jerk, the ugly American overseas, then obviously people are going to be rude to you. I have lived in Japan over 20 years, have never really had problems with being overtly rude or belligerent because Im a foreigner. I have had bigger problems with officialdom, and the racism is not so much in-your-face, but is more insidious. Gaijins may be outsiders but what about Muslims and Arab looking people in the US, even though they are born there. Do you think they are made to feel welcome in the US because they are not white and their name is Saeed?

Southeast Asians by and large tend to come from poorer and socio-economically developing countries and Japanese have a tendency to look down on poorer people, just like people in the US look down on Mexicans and Hispanics. there is not a whole lot of difference here. Only difference is that you are now on the receiving end, not on the giving end.

Actually from what I heard Japanese tend to like Americans a lot. Well the older generations probably still have mixed feeling about the USA due to what happened during World War II. But the younger generations (people born in 1960 and after) tend to like the USA a lot. The Japanese are known to be racist although I can't speak for everyone but I've heard that Japanese tend to be racist more towards African-Americans than towards white people. This is due to the fact that they've been kind of an isolated nation for so many years and they haven't had much immigration so Japan is a very "ethnically homogeneous" country. I'm not sure about Southeast Asia, but Koreans and Japanese tend to not like each other so much due to the Japanese conquering Korea during the second world war. I'm not sure about Southeast Asians though.

    Japan Racism

Nobody here really cares what race you are, where you come from, etc. The Japanese are very polite wherever you go. I'm Native American and a lot of the people I met here think it's awesome since there's so little of us left. It's not like the black white conflicts of the MLK times. Of course, every country has its racist people, but 99.9% of people here don't really care.

It's not toward caucasian or black but it's yes, toward Korean and Chinese who are called "Zainichi". Japanese is super polite people and this is not their fault but there are so many Korean and Chinese who sneak into Japan and have the status of special permanent residents of Japan. They pretend as if they were Japanese people and they have Japanese sir name. Japanese people hate them because the people is them who commit crimes and they cause all problems in Japan. They can tell if they are "Zainichi" or not from the kanji of sir names. I don't know why Japanese people don't wipe Zainichi out.
