This question comes from the UK so to understand the UK does not allow hunting with archery period.
For the beginning hunter he/she needs a bow that will have a draw weight of at least 40lbs. This is so that you get good penetration into the kill zones, and it is a requirement in many U.S. states. The two bows you are thinking about do not have enough draw for hunting purposes they are for target use only.
I suggest you take your young archer to a bow shop and have him fitted for a bow and try out several different bows and types of bows. Sign them up for lessons, as well as for your self, and the two of you will learn the sport of archery together. After a few lessons you will then know what the best bow for you will be and the requirements for hunting needs.
Have fun!

Its going to come down less to brand more to style, its going to either be a traditional style bow (recurve or long bow) which is a great bow but you have to practice a lot before you can hit anything because it depends on muscle memory to hit the target. I started with one of these and it helped me a lot on my fundamentals when I got to a compound bow. Depending on the age of the shooter I would recommend around a 10 to 25 pound pull.

You can go with a Compound bow, the advantages of this are aiming is a whole lot simpler, you use the peep sight on the string and put the pin on the target. It takes a lot less time to get good at one of these and your shots will be a lot more consistent. There are also a whole range of bows such as the diamond edge by bow tech that can move from a tend pound bow to a 35 pound so you can actually grow with the bow.
Lastly I know you didn't ask about arrows but there are particular styles that you need for this. First of all the vain type is going to change based on the bow. A Recurve bow will need you to us veins that collapse like a real feather, where a compound will use a solid vain.
Second the type of arrow head will not be sharp, they make blunt heads for small game. You can either buy them or you can take spent pistol cases and use those on the end with some glue.

As the question has appeared in the UK and Ireland section, I have to tell you that bow hunting in the UK is illegal and carries severe penalties.

the three appropriate bows that I somewhat have seen for novices that could have adequate weight to seek are the project craze, project insurrection and Diamond razor component. they are all extra cost-effective yet excellent for the cost.
