If Obama made a press conference tomorrow announcing to end spying, would he be able to?

Would anybody believe him? He's done nothing but lie to us for months.

O.K. This program was instituted by Bush/Cheney. (Of course, you knew that.)

It was and is approved by Congress. (Of course you knew that.)

Any searching into an individual's communications must be first approved

by a federal judge. (Of course, you already knew that.)

What puzzles me is that you don't mention Bush/Cheney. You don't

mention Congress. You don't mention the federal judges, who act as

a safeguard on the program.

You just place the whole thing on the shoulders of the president.

I don't think that you are mentally retarded, so that I have to conclude that you

are just very poorly informed.

He cannot repeal the patriot act on his own.

He cannot defund homeland security or the NSA on his own.

Sure, but you wouldn't want him to. The next time there was a terrorist attack, you'd be whining and complaining, "Why didn't Obama protect us!"
