Can you go to a doctor to go on the pill just for your period?

I have really bad periods and I've been told that the pill make your periods easier. I know that the pill is mostly for contraception. I've never had sex and I won't be for a while. Would a doctor put me on the pill just for my periods?

Update:

I've tried a lot of natural remedies and nothing works.

You can certainly go to your doctor with period problems. It would be for him/her to decide what medication is appropriate (if any).

  • From my experience my doctor first give me naproxen and other pain relievers and I also take q pap sometimes. Yes you can get pills but first they will try to give you medicine to help you relieve from period at least that was what they did from my experience. I usually go to my doctor with my parents so my doctor gave it to me because my doctor see consent and seriousness. There are side effects like spotting so ask your doctor about it, spotting happens to everyone who takes control pill. Bottom line, yes you can get it ask your doctor.

    Bottomline is yes you can.
