Best university for military students?

I just graduated community college last month and I'm in the process of enlisting in the US Coast Guard. I've been looking into online universities where I can finish my bachelors and so far I'm not impressed. One of the universities I actually filled out an application to refused to transfer a third of my credits.

I was wondering if users here could recommend any universities (online or traditional -- so long as it's along the coast) that would be good for service members to attend. I'm looking to earn a bachelors in CIS / MIS or Applied Engineering. Any advice would be great

Thanks!

It's very rare that any university will take 100% of some other school's credits, absent an in-state credit agreement such as is often found between community colleges and the public universities in the same state. Expect to take a step backwards unless you're doing that.

I'm not a huge fan of online schools for engineering degrees. That said, popular schools with military students include schools like Strayer, American Military, University of MD University College, Colorado Tech, and others. Anywhere really, as long as it's regionally accredited. Personally, if you have to go online, I'd focus on schools that are also well-known bricks-and-mortar schools too. Many schools that offer both do not differentiate between online degrees and in-person degrees, so a third party (or employer) looking at it won't know the difference.

    Good luck!

How about the Coast Guard Academy? Failing that, a traditional 4-year school.

On-line educatioin is an idea whose time has come but which is not yet serious.
