If like me you are annoyed by the new advertisements on the newest mail page complain to the advertisers, if they get worried Yahoo! will jump.

The link doesn't work now. If I can't find a way to go back to the old style yahoo I think I'll switch... for the first time since 1997. I've always preferred yahoo over everyone else but this new style is awful. I hate the little box to see messages in, the new colours and the grouping together of emails. Why have they changed it?

Beginning the week of June 3, 2013, you will be prompted to switch to a new version of Yahoo! Mail, because older versions of Yahoo! Mail (including Mail Classic) are being discontinued. While you can delay switching for several weeks, beginning July 9, 2013, you can only access your Yahoo! Mail if you switch to a new version.

However, besides the new full featured Yahoo mail Yahoo also offers "basic mail" which doesn't provide all features of the new mail - this version may be interesting to look at for former Mail Classic users.

Missing features in "basic mail": photo slideshow, messenger, and themes.

To switch to basic mail: sign in to Yahoo! Mail, move your cursor over the gear icon in the upper-right and select mail options, check "switch to Basic Mail", click save.

The new yahoo mail is really clunky and slow. I despise it.

I found the solution. If you switch to basic mail. This is very close to the classic mail.

I am happy with it. The advance GUI is really bad and I lost few mails.

But, the basic is solid and is more intuitive and easier to use.

Just go to setting and find mail configuration and there is basic mail radio.

Just click that and you will be back to closest to classic. :-)

I hate this new Mail too. so many bugs! I wanted to switch back to the old ("classic") Yahoo Mail and found this QA thread. Not much help here either 'cause the link someone posted a few months ago is not working. but I got it switched by:

1. click on the "settings" icon (a gear) at the top right corner and select "settings"

2. Click on "View Mail"

3. at the bottom of the page, choose "Basic" as your Mail version.

it'll switch you back right away. But the font is still screwed up which may need some manual adjustment...hope this helps.

How do I switch to the old yahoo mail. I hate the new one to slow and crazy set up

I will stop using yahoo if they dont keep the classic option. I've used yahoo mail since the mid 1990s and liked every update except this one. I'm going to gmail if I cant have the classic.

I am leaving yahoo mail. I will be proceeding and changing all my mail clients to either gmail or opera email if I do not get the old version back. Did you guys did any testing what so ever before releasing this version????????

Go to your current Yahoo mail inbox(where you see your mail).

In the upper right hand corner you will see your username & right next to it you will see a symbol of a small circular gear, looks like a clock-face.

Hover your mouse cursor over it and you will see the "setting" option, click on it.

Then a square white page will open up over your current page.

On the bottom right hand side of that you will see the option to choose "Basic Mail" over "Full Feature"

Check mark it, but BEFORE you click "Save" verify that there aren't other changes in there you may also want to make.....then:

click "Save" at the bottom

And Voila youre back!

You wont be ALL the way back to the original version of Yahoo Classic, but youll be back to the previous version which wont make you pull your hair out !!

How convenient for Yahoo--the feed back page doesn't work. I guess it is the equivilent of sticking their fingers in their ears and saying LALALALA really loud so they don't hear the complaints.

I too wish I would be given a choice between the old style that works so well and is so clean and simple or "upgrade" to the new gobbledegook.
