How to become a sniper in the National Guard?
So tell me how to become one? Do i have to go to a certain college? How hard will it be? I am willing to try my hardest...i am 17 and female and fit but i could always improve my shape and i have been growing up around guns and enjoying going hunting and target practice with my mom. Tell me everything about becoming a sniper for the National Guard.

As it stands right now, females in the Army and Marines are barred from becoming snipers. It is a direct combat position, and closed to women. In the near future, that may change. The course prerequisites are: Must be 11B, 11M, 19D or CMF 18. PFC-SFC (Grade waiverable). Active duty, or Reserve, or National Guard, must have a good performance record with no history of alcohol, or drug abuse, must be a volunteer and be recommended by his commander.
The Air Force is the only service that allows for female snipers, and only those in the Security Forces (Police).

EDIT for alexander m: No, I didn't copy/paste from about.com. I copied it from this link: http://www.militarywoman.org/forums/showthread.php...
I realized it was dated, but I hadn't noticed the 11M MOS. Eh, screwed up. What can I say?
EDIT #2: No worries. It IS funny how long sh!t lasts on the net though, eh?

you can't. sniper school is limited to 11 series, 18 series, and 19D. As a female you cannot be any of those.
update- having a sex change wouldn't allow you to go lol. how hard would it be as a male soldier in an appropriate MOS in the NG? Very. No unit will send you unless they need you to go, meaning you're in their recon element which is a platoon (about 20 man) sized element out of an entire battalion (about 400 troops). The majoirty of the recon platoon will never get sent to sniper school. In fact a unit that is considered to have a lot of sniper school graduates will have 3 or 4 in their recon platoon. However the NG doesn't have as good funding as active, so you'll be lucky to have even 1 in the entire recon platoon, and chances are he came from active duty. So statistically, a male with an appropriate MOS in the NG has about a 0.25% chance of going to sniper school.
provost- did you cut and copy that from about.com? thats the only website I know of that still lists 11M as an MOS (it hasn't existed in a very long time). also the airforce security forces don't exactly have snipers. they have counter snipers, which (aside for the equipment) is completely different.
provost- ah, wasn't trying to bash your or anything just found it kind of funny.

Females are currently banned from sniper school. Even if they weren't you would have to be an 11B or 19D (both banned for women) get a slot for your battalions sniper section and actually convince them to pay to send you (which they wont as the NG has very little money).
