What do you think Will and Kate will name the Royal Baby?

With less than 4 weeks until the baby is due, I thought of setting up a few bets with my family as to the name. I've narrowed down my list to 6 names for each sex, with a few extras on the side:

Girls: Alice, Sophie/Sophia, Charlotte

(maybe Eva, just cos I love the name, possibly Frances, Grace, Victoria or Alexandra)

Boys: James, George, Louis (possibly Arthur or Philip, due to the family links)

Alice because of Prince Phillip's mother, Sophie/Sophia because it's a high-class name, and Charlotte because I think Will and Kate are quite modern yet timeless, and this name would be perfect. Many people think Diana. I disagree, it will be a middle name most probably.

James because of it's direct royal links, George likewise, and Louis because of William's middle name.

So, after that ramble, what do you think the royal couple's new arrival will be named? Give your top 3 with reasoning if you want. :D

I'm pretty sure they will be using names with meaning or names from family.... Sophia/Sophie is extremely popular so I doubt they would go with that, it doesn't fit them (by observation) or family naming styles....

Charlotte is a possibility (Out of your guesses)... similar to Charles...

Carole is Catherine's mothers name, so that may or may not be incorporated somehow.. as for a boy, Phillip is a good guess, but out of yours James...

I would hope it wasn't James (I doubt it is) because I'm considering that name if I ever have a son and whatever name they do choose...there is a possibility the popularity will spike higher.

I'm going to take a guess that they'll go for something classic or timeless, but still works today and promotes the 'Britishness' i.e. no Leopolds (yes Victoria, I'm looking at you). This kid could be our future king or queen so there's a lot of pressure on Kate and Will to get the name right.

Girls: All the classics like Alice, Charlotte, Victoria, Amelia, Elizabeth, Mary, Sophie/Sophia (I actually prefer Sophie), Anne, Caroline (maybe used as a middle name or something), Louisa etc. I'd be quite happy to find out that Maltilda is on their suggestion list actually. Diana... yup, that will almost definitely be on their list.

Boys: Philip, Frederick, David, Alfred might make it, you never know... George, Henry (I think this is still a possibility as Harry is known to everyone as 'Harry', and not Henry), Arthur, James, Richard... I believe there's some sort of superstition about calling a royal child John, so I think they'll leave that one out.

I'm pretty sure they're going to have Diana in there somewhere to honour Prince William's mum if they have a little girl. I could be wrong on that front, but knowing how important she was to him and his brother, based on various appearances over the years, I can't see her name going out unnoticed. I can seem them possibly honouring quite a few family members in their chosen name for a child, if I'm honest. They just give off that impression.

That aside, I don't know. The Royal family tend to have to choose fairly regal-sounding names, and names that link with the previous monarchy and their family.

    :)

None of those....maybe George is a guess, but what you listed....none of them.

I think they have a little girl, and will name her Elizabeth, with Diana as one of her middle names (they seem to give their children several names : )

If it's a boy, I think George will be his name.

The Monarchy has rules on names. Either sex, it has to be a royal name from the past, like Anne or Richard.

Probably something more modern, maybe possibly a bit trendy. I say this because Will and Kate aren't really stuck up royals, so I doubt they'd go all out with a high-class name and just keep it a bit toned down. Maybe Caitlin, Lily, or even Madeleine. They're not very high-class, just timeless. Madeleine Diana or they could maybe incorporate Diana and Elizabeth and could come up with Eliza, Lily Elizabeth or even Madeleine Diane (not Diana). For the boys, I think it'd probably be the same. Oliver would be one I'd think they'd possibly consider, maybe go for Oliver William because they'd incorporate the father's name.

Now I've thought about it, it's real tricky.

    Charlotte Diana would be pretty!

I think that names nice and would fit the royal baby, plus i also think diana would be a mn more than a FN. Or Alice Diana (:

I alao could see Grace c:

Not so much sophia, and i kinda hope not alexandra or victoria because those just seem to be obvious choices lol..

For the boy Louis James would be names or James louis. i dont really like george haha xD
