Suggestions for things to do in Drama Club?
Recently I was promoted to the leader of our Drama Club, and while I've been looking around at various ideas and things we could do next school year, I'm having trouble deciding what might be fun (or wise :P) to do. I am unsure how many people we'll have (more than likely very few), but we do have plenty of things to work with, props and set-wise. Any thoughts?

Hello:) As a performer as well, I have a few suggestions. Have you ever tried improv? Try coming up with funny scenes for the other members to participate in. Modern-day silly teen problems such as One Direction vs. Justin Bieber or crushes is funny. Having guys to act in more feminine scenes are usually a crowd pleaser. A mystery is good with a surprising plot twist. Also have scenes with funny romance in it. Ask around from your friends and take a survey on what they want to see on stage as openly take suggestions. To make your class better backstage and onstage, consider the following.
•Teach EVERYONE the backstage basics (e.x- How to set up lights and gobos or how to open the curtains)
•Make sure everyone knows where to find certain props or costumes(if it's in storage make sure they know how to open/lock it).
•Make sure everyone works as a team. Don't let someone do ALL the work or not any work AT ALL.
•Create small simple scenes for everyone to act out so you can see where everyone is acting wise(e.x- Has stage fright, stutters, looks up at the ceiling, needs more enthusiasm, good solid lines, great enthusiasm, etc.)
•Be their friend but also strict. Make sure everyone gets what they need to done. Such as memorizing lines on time or researching topics.
•Make sure you pick/create plays at the ability of the class. Not too hard so try won't get stressed and not too easy so they won't get bored.
•Make sure to establish your leadership amoung the class. Let them know you're the boss and don't let them take advantage of you.
•Divide tasks evenly.
•When picking/creating scenes, consult the other members. They'll be more willing and enthusiastic if they like the play they're doing that isn't boring.
•Make sure people who have to work together get along. The last thing you want is drama... Or do you? Hmm...
Hopefully this helps. Best of luck!!

Improv is a fun way to start things out: http://www.freedrama.net/improv.html
And here is a great play with a flexible cast: http://www.freedrama.net/weirdschool.html
The Weird, Wild and Wonderful Days of School
A full length play about young adults who are dealing with the comedy, challenges and changes of life. This play has a flexible cast. Not all scenes need to be performed. And actors can play multiple parts because no characters repeat from scene to scene. The smallest cast you could have by doing all the scripts would be three males and four females. But there are many as 49 speaking roles possible.

i'd recommend starting up with a prepare/fundraiser. you would possibly want to post an "nighttime of scenes." membership individuals carry out one scene from a play of their selection. you'll have as many as you want, yet in case you assume it really is 10 - 15 minutes in retaining with scene, and also you opt for your prepare to be somewhat less than 2 hours, you need to have 8 to 10 scenes, with a 15 minute intermission contained in the middle. it really is really undemanding to do, because you do not favor any gadgets. only a black curtain backdrop. Actors can furnish their own costumes and props - it would not might want to be fancy in any respect. you may make some awesome little classes for the target audience, which introduce the drama membership and state your challenge. then you record the scenes being performed so as, noting the play's identify and author, the names of the performers, and a short description of the plot so human beings comprehend what's happening. You charge some funds, no more desirable than $5, in retaining with man or woman. Get all of your associates and relatives to go back. once you've 20 performers, you artwork they each and each and every invite a minimum of two human beings - it really is 40 human beings suitable there, so that you're making a minimum of $2 hundred. Oh, you would possibly want to also promote refreshments for the period of intermission. you also introduce your college to the hot drama membership and also you prepare easily all and dissimilar a touch of what you may do. you may then spend in spite of money you made on your first genuine production.

Teach everyone the basics of hollywood fight scenes, then pair up two or three people and have them do their own fight scene with background music. Another good idea is to pair up small groups of 5 or so and let them pick out their own props and do a small play or a skit with whatever they have picked out. Or let people pick a song to study and act out or come up with some kind of cool or funny skit that goes along with the song like the bohemian rhapsody or something like that. The fight scene idea was the best time I ever had in drama class.
