Is religion a narcotic?

Religion is man's attempt to describe God. Everyone has a religion (whether they admit it or not). Therefore, your concept of a "normal" life is a false position. Your head is already messed up.

What you probably mean is that it stops you from living a sinful life. Unfortunately, that is not true either.

Maybe, you mean that it stops people from living like you do. Given the amount of false information that you seem to believe, I don't see that as a bad thing... .

It helps you understand a lot of things in life even if some of the things it claims is false. This question is very irrational. Why? Because "rationally" you could be doing better stuff with your life. So does that make you a narcotic?

I am religious, and as a regular person I can safely say, that while i haven't done some things because of it, I am able to lead a perfectly normal life

It doesn't mess with my head, it more puts it to rest, since i don't have to worry about the deep questions of life such as Where did i come from etc, and being a person with reasonable intelligence this would have bothered me

It does seem to have that effect on many. I think it is worse, because there is no opportunity to sober up in the morning. Booze or drugs. the 'stupid' is at least temporary, fanatics have no chance to rid the system of the poison.

Yes, religion is. but not a true relationship with god. that is not like a drug at all. drugs like alcohol and pot harm the body, god heals the body. only love can heal a broken heart.
