Blue Tegu Pros: Smaller only 3-1/2ft at longest. They are docile and the easiest tegu to care for.

Either way you decided your still going to need a long tank at least 6ft if you get the tegu. Also they have kind of similar diets the only difference being that tegu stick to an all rodent diet where savannah monitors eat insects in nature but they could be on a all rodent diet as well. The tegu would be easier to care for and it will also be much less aggressive towards you and would probably let you hold it. Furthermore, each lizard will grow to be considerably large and will require proper husbandry if you want it to live for more then a year or two.

Personally I like the monitors better, tegus have that whole no neck look going on and they just never appealed to me
