I have a ton of music on my iPod, purchased in iTunes and from CDs..?
My computer crashed. I got a new computer. How do I save my music on my ipod so it doesn't try to clear it off when using the new computer to sync the ipod? I've found that since the music library is not on the new computer that the new computer wants to wipe my ipod and only load the itunes purchases.
We are talking about thousands of songs off hundreds of CDs

If you want to transfer the music from your iPod to your new computer, there are pieces of software which allow it. One application is called SharePod, which I have used before when a similar thing happened to me (however, unless you pay $20, you can only transfer 50 songs). Other alternatives include PodTrans and CopyTrans, but most seem to have a transfer limit.
