Ladies, if you had to choose, would you rather your husband be a police officer or a firefighter (safety wise)?

I care about my lady quite a bit, and the last thing I want to happen is have her worry about me and my safety while I'm at work.

Firefighters often rush into burning buildings, and I don't want her to imagine me running into one, and not coming back out, but on the other hand I don't want her imagining me getting shot by a criminal while working as a patrol officer.

Which would you feel more comfortable or ease at, knowing your husband will most likely be coming home at night and not being put in a casket?

Update:

I apologize if this is in the wrong category! I wasn't sure what other category to put it in.

I've had a thing for firefighters for as long as I can remember and I don't know why. FYI, they don't blindly rush into burning buildings. They are trained on how and when to go in.

Although I have a lot of respect for police officers, I've seen too many of them abuse their powers.

If your lady cares anything about you, she's going to worry about you no matter what your job is. Accidents happen no matter what.

There's an old joke that's been around for years: Those who cannot past the firefighters test become cops.

    Good luck on your decision.

Both are very dangerous, but very honorable jobs! I grew up in the LA county, where both firefighters and police officers are in high demand. However, I'd probably say I'd feel less worried if my husband were a firefighter. One of my friends' dads is a police officer and has gotten many death threats (one very, VERY serious- so much that her family had to go out of town for a week), whereas another one of my friends' dads is a firefighter, and I never remembered anything too scary happening with them when I was growing up.

Both are amazing careers and your currrent or future wife should be proud of the risks you take to protect your community. But in saying that there are many more departments inside the police force that don't always include front line danger, so that would be my choice.

All the best in your decision :)

As neither job is particularly safe, I would hope my husband would choose the job that he loved most, and was most suited to him. If I had to make a decision though, I guess since I survived a house fire, and have the utmost respect for our local firemen, (who are amazing, hard working, and kind) that'd be the job I chose for him.
