how do people/government expect people within the poverty limit to pay taxes?

i listen to republicans complain about the poor not paying taxes and getting welfare. below poverty. meaning. they cant afford to even buy a little food. while companies make record profits.and get huge tax breaks/ welfare. we have deductions for private jets, people with houses that are big enough to hold a hundred people. with only one or two living there. why is it bad to tax these people?

Update:

barry- why has even fox not reported on rich liberals getting tax exempt status. and the programs of the irs having get togethers to throw hut nannies i guess. no i don't agree with that. that needs to stop. and it was tea party groups asking for tax exempt status. that is a republican group. sorry to burst you bubble.

First of all, people below the poverty limit already do pay taxes. They pay sales taxes, excise taxes (on gasoline, tobacco, alcohol, etc), property taxes (if they own property), etc. Why shouldn't they also be expected to pay income taxes if they have income?

Conversely, if they're too poor to pay income taxes on their income, then aren't they also too poor to pay tobacco taxes on their cigarettes? I don't understand your thinking.

Well you would have been credible until liberals started applauding when they heard the IRS was rubber stamping tax exempt status for rich liberals, then had no problem with the $70 million in IRS bonuses, and $50 million spend on those stupid videos.

So hopefully you can understand why nobody buys that argument anymore
