Would you consider American to be an ethnicity? A nationality? I'm not referring to Native Americans.
I'm referring to Americans whose descent is not Native American. (There's gotta be a better way to phrase that...)

A nationality. Your ethnicity depends on which countries your ancestors came from.

No. It's a nationality. I was born in America so by nationality, I'm American but I'm Caucasian and of European descent.

Pretty much. The term ethnicity can be synonymous with nationality but it depends on the context.
