Advice on computer upgrades for my hubby?

Alright well I really wanted to do some nice things for my husband since he has just graduated basic and will be gone training for the military until December. I just bought him a new laptop and laptop case and am planning on buying him a new computer desk, a watch, and doing upgrades to his computer.

This is what was suggested to me to do for upgrades.Qty. Product Description Savings Total Price

Obviously this will be a little expensive but what do all these items do and which would be the most important? Also are there any comparable less expensive parts I could sub in for any on the list?

That would make one NICE machine.

The parts are just the brain (processor) memory, storage, and the base for it all.

But what i did notice is they recommended 2 Hard drives (storage) I would keep the SSD but not get the seagate barracuda. Saving 134$

And you could half the price of the graphics card, with a gigabyte with windforce which are about $200 and still PLENTY powerful.

Get a new desktop. Unless he is an avid gamer a nice 800 dollar machine would be just fine. If you don't know what you're doing it is gonna be a waste of money when the whole shebang don't work. Have you ever built a computer? OMG! Go to MaximumPC.com or PCGamer.com and see what they recommend for a good gaming build. If you've never built one I really don't recommend it. As I say you can get a nice desktop for 800. I paid 800 for my Gateway and I've had it 5 years and it does well. Of course I have 3 machines that I built but that's for fun, I don't rely on them. My last build is a little flakey and gets blue screens, no problem as it runs fine for what I want it for. I am hoping my next build will be better. If you go to Newegg.com you will find building tutorials also on PcGamer.com. It's fun but don't be surprised if build fails.
