When people talk about prayer in the school, how many of you...?

... automatically think of Christian prayer? You know that's what the issue is. I never hear Jews, Muslims, Hindus or other religions talk about prayer in school. But Christianity continues to make an issue out of this. For fifty (50) years prayer as part of the school curriculum, or school endorsement, has been deemed unconstitutional. That's half a century! So why is this still being rankled about?

I have a fond fantasy about prayer in school that runs just along those lines! Little Jimmy comes home from school. "Mom," he says, "Mr. WIlson was out sick to day and we got Mr. Mohammed. Mr. Mohammed is a Muslim so at prayer time we all knelt on little rugs and touched our foreheads to the floor and faced Mecca (it's that way!) and asked Allah to punish the infidels!

No, when people say they want prayer in school, they want THEIR prayer in school. 8^)

Of course living in america Christianity is automatically going to come to mind because america's main religion and population is Christian. I would love for there to be prayer in school, but i also believe if an AMERICAN Christian wants to pray to God. and an AMERICAN Muslim wants to pray to Allah then they should have the same right. It is a part of our freedom, different people believe in different things based upon where they live and how they were raised. At the end of the day we are all human beings living in the same world. There is no need for separation or discrimination.

We homeschool and pray when we want.

And prayer in school has never been "deemed unconstitutional."

Our laws and our institutions must necessarily be based upon and embody the teachings of The Redeemer of mankind. It is impossible that it should be otherwise; and in this sense and to this extent our civilization and our institutions are emphatically Christian...This is a religious people. This is historically true. From the discovery of this continent to this present hour, there is a single voice making this affirmation...we find everywhere a clear recognition of the same truth...These, and many other matters which might be noticed, add a volume of unofficial declarations to the mass of organic utterances that this is a Christian nation.

--Supreme Court decision, Church of the Holy Trinity V. United States, 1892

We don't have to "make" the US a Christian nation; it always has been...Although lately we have strayed from our roots.

I don't think there should be any prayer in school because that opens the door to all prayers in school...

Because Christians and their Christian politicians want to make the U.S. a Christian theocracy.
