Tips to survive a long flight?
In a few months I'm going on a holiday with my parents to England, we're from Australia, I'm pretty excited I'm just kind of worried about the plane flight as the longest flight I've ever been on is 6 hours and this one will be 3 times the length of that. I know we get a stop in Dubai for a refuel which will be good but how do I survive the rest of the journey so i don't suffer from bordem?
Any tips are greatly appreciated!!

some planes have tv's on the back of each seat, it had this when i flew a 13 hour flight and it kept me entertained the whole way. But in case your plane doesn't have this, i'd suggest putting some movies or shows on an ipod or phone to watch throughout the flight or to bring a book or two to read. depending on what time you are leaving, it would probably be a good idea to try get some sleep on the plane as well (although I can never get to sleep on planes).
It's also a good idea every couple of hours to get up and just walk through the aisles of the plane. this stops you from feeling really stiff and sore after the plane lands and it's a good idea to promote blood circulation throughout the flight. The more you get up and move around the better! You can also do some in-seat stretches just to loosen up a little bit.
Since it's quite a long flight, I'm assuming you'll be getting meals throughout the flight, so that shouldn't be a problem.
With the meals and sleep and some entertainment the flight should be fairly good! I've been on many long plane flights and so I always think ahead of what to bring on the plane so that i won't get bored.
also it can get cold on planes. sometimes airlines will provide you with a blanket and pillow, but others will charge you for them, so it might be a good idea to take a blanket with you.
other than that, just wear comfortable clothing a footwear, and keep hydrated! don't be afraid to ask the flight attendants for more food and drinks, it's what they are there for.
Good luck and have fun on your trip! you'll have a great time :)

Have your mother or father get a prescription for Valium. I know this sound like a joke but sleeping for 5-6 hrs really takes the monotony out of a long flight. I'm not talking about anything heavy just 2mg to help take the edge off. I go to my doctor before a long trip and get a few and I tell him exactly what they're for. They won't knock you out but they will relax you enough to grab a pillow a nod off. Most of the time I can hear everything going on around me and the drone of the engines sooth's me into a warm and fuzzy nap. When I land I'm refreshed and ready to go.
