Can I eat strawberries that have holes in them?

I bought a box of strawberries and some of them have small bore holes in them. I assume they were made by insects. Is it okay to eat the strawberries or should I throw them away? Could the insects still be inside them? I cut a couple open but couldn't see anything.

You can cut the bits out and eat the rest. Unless they were reduced, however, I'd take them back to where you bought them from for replacement or a refund.

Sounds like slugs or snails have been at them. Cut out the holed bits and wash them, or take them back as they re technically not shop worthy. Not sure if gastropods carry anything nasty with them.

I wouldn't eat them in fact I would take them back to the store you bought them and ask for the money back.
