Right earphone stopped working?

I bought the Sony EX10 in-ear headphones about a month ago and today the right earphone has stopped working.

I can still hear audio from it but it is extremely quiet compared to the left earphone. Are there any suggestions as to why this has happened?

It's usually a break in the cable, causing a short. The places most likely are where the cable goes into the earphone itself or the cable going into the plug. Both can get strained and aren't very robust.

Never (like some people do) wind the cable around your music player/'phone when you aren't using it, that also strains the cable.

The only thing I can suggest is wiping the metal area of the plug with a soft cloth moistened with a little isopropryl alcohol or surgical spirit. It could be that there is poor electrical contact between the plug and socket and doing this would clean them.

Assuming you've tried plugging them into something else as well and you've still got the same problem, I'd dig out your purchase receipt and return them to where you bought them for an exchange or refund.

Either that or throw them out and replace them. Would suggest you try a different brand, like SkullCandy. I've owned a pair of these for years and still work/sound fine. They start at about £10, about what a pair of new Sony ones would cost.

The same thing had happened to me when I brought some skullcandy earphones. They broke two months later I got them. It's natural for one earphone to short fuse after some time, and, unfortunately, they cannot be fixed. In my own experiences, this happens when you use the earphone on more than one device, or when they are constantly getting tangled and thrown around ... You will have to buy a new pair, something a little more long lasting (*Skull candy ink'd earphones*, I've had these since the beginning of the year and they have still lasted through think and thin. But, that is just my suggestion)

Normally the wire gets bent too much and can fray or break, causing one side to stop working

There may be a short in the wires. You will need new headphones :(
