Charged with possession of deadly weapon?
I was in Ormond Beach, FL last wednesday and i have an extendable ASP baton in my glove box for self defense, cop saw it when i was getting insurance and registration, arrested me on the charge of possession of a deadly weapon, and released a few hours later. Is there a misdemeanor aversion in FL, can my charges get dropped with community service? no police officer i asked was very clear on this. they were pissed at me because apparently only police should have batons.

U can't have that weapon, citizens can have a lvl2 weapon that is the highest legal weapon. The baton is like lvl4

What in Gods green earth - you been walking around either underage with a gun or have an unregistered weapon or both??? You know having a gun can get you killed by someone with a gun who's got years of experience with one. You better be plainly apologetic to the judge - don't try to be Mr. Tough Guy, the judge will punish you and it's gonna hurt for years. Sound like you didn't mean to be a threat to anyone, (i hope) maybe the judge will be more lenient if you seem like a nice person. don't over do it, but be sorry, and personable. You have heard, there have been a rash desperate folks doing shootings lately - because of the recession and stuff. You might sound like you were thinking of shooting other humans - (I hope not) Your luck will come with thought and preparation.

Batons in the hands of untrained persons are considered deadly weapons. One has to be properly trained in the use of a baton to use it effectively and safely. In the wrong hands, a baton can kill, because untrained people try to hit the wrong areas

no police officer i asked was very clear on this.
That is because it is up to the judge after hearing your attorneys arguments and the prosecutions argument.
Cops ain't judges once they make an arrest.
