Can all mathematical sums be derived from multiple antecedents?

ex.) the sum is 4

3+1, 2+2, 4+0, 5-1, (i^0)4 are all possible antecedents of 4, or alternatively; 4 can be a derivative of the above terms.

Are there exceptions to this logic?
