What public transportation is there from San Francisco to Sacramento?

I am applying for a job at the UC Davis Hospital in Sacremento, but have been living in SF without a car for 7 years. Anyone aware of what my options are? Or would I be totally required to drive everyday?

Cant afford a car right now, but if I work at this job for a few months, then I think I could afford a car with my new salary... Thank so much! I am open to ANY options, even if it is a long commute with transfers.

Amtrak's Capital Corridor is the first thing that jumped into my mind as well. They have near-hourly trains from SF and the East Bay that drop you off about two miles from UCDMC. From there, it's a bus or taxi ride over to work.

Greyhound is also a possibility, but the Sacramento Greyhound station is significantly farther away from the hospital.

The bus is available of course but try this instead. Call AMTRAK. They have commuter trains from Sacramento to the Bay Area. They go at least as far as the BART station. Then local transport to include the cable cars are available into San Francisco and throughout the city. All sorts of mapping information should be available through sites on the Internet. Where are you from? How long will you be in Sacramento? I live in the area, if you want more information I am available through my profile.

Amtrak capitol corridor would be beet option. Keep in mind last train leaves sac at approximately 10:30pm. Then becomes a bus that is st mercyof bakersfield train arrival. If it is late you will wait for it.

You would also need to take Bart for part of journey.

Amtrack. Our nephew takes it to visit his parents and he loves it. Probably amtrack.com but you can google it.

Greyhound is possible, but commute traffic through that corridor is murder, and that includes buses. The train has it's own rails.
