Microsoft Wireless Keyboard 6000 v3.0?

I have a Microsoft Wireless Keyboard 6000 v3.0. I cannot get it to work! I'm using Windows 8 64-bit. When I first plugged the dongle in it started to work. Then it just stopped. I don't know what I can do to make it work. I've tried using the CD, but it says it in incompatible. Then I went to the Microsoft website and downloaded the drivers and software for it for Windows 8 64-bit. It just doesn't work. Any help or suggestions would be great! The batteries in it are brand new so I know that isn't the problem.

    Run troubleshooting in the control panel. Hardware or software in there should get you going.
